Since University Positional MRI is able to image your body in an upright, weight bearing state as well as functionally imaging your spine while bending forward or backward, your physician can get information that is simply not possible with any standard closed or open MRI machine where you must lie down flat. Positional MRI increases the ability of your doctor to diagnose what is truly causing your pain or areas of stress, which in the end will allow your doctor to prescribe the best treatment for you.

- If my back hurts when I am sitting or bending, why would I want to be scanned lying down?
- If my knee buckles when I am standing, shouldn't I get an MRI in an upright standing position?

Our Upright MRI also allows for the most comfortable patient experience bar none. No closed in tubes. No loud banging in your ears. No lying down flat on your back. With our advanced Upright MRI, you simply walk up to the magnet, sit or stand in the patient positioning system (80% of our studies are done in the sitting position) and have nothing in front of your face so that you can have a “Clear View” to watch a DVD on the flat screen TV located in front of you. Even the claustrophobic and large patients find that the engineering of our unit allows for a comfortable scan.
